The Psychological Service Center is part of Pacific University’s School of Professional Psychology and is one of the main training sites for our doctoral psychology students and interns. Our therapists are advanced doctoral psychology students supervised by experienced, licensed psychologists who are full-time and adjunct faculty. Practicum and field placement students from the School of Professional Psychology have the opportunity to learn about evidenced based treatments and comprehensive assessment with youth and adults. All therapy rooms are set up with videotaping equipment so that therapists record their sessions and can review the videotapes with their clinical supervisor. Clinicians may participate in running groups and giving presentations in the community in addition to seeing their individual clients.
Many training opportunities are available throughout the year including a monthly Grand Rounds in which students and faculty present and discussion clinical work, specialized trainings with faculty, and consultation with the Intake Team Coordinator and psychologist resident, Associate Director and Director of the Clinic, and the pre-doctoral interns assigned to the clinic.
Supervision is offered weekly with faculty supervisors and part-time faculty with areas of special expertise.
The doctoral psychology program of the School of Professional Psychology at Pacific University is accredited by the American Psychological Association (www.apa.org).
APA Approved Predoctoral Psychology Internship
The pre-doctoral internship at the Psychological Service Center is accredited by the American Psychological Association. Each year 3 interns from doctoral psychology programs around the country come to the clinic to train.
